NEW COACH: Gaston College hires new assistant with college, NBA coaching experience
Gaston College has hired a new basketball assistant coach.
Jimmy Bradshaw, who most recently worked as an assistant at Eastern Mennonite University, will replace Jamie Rosser as Rhinos' assistant coach after Rosser was promoted to head coach after last season.
"I'm very excited to bring Jimmy on board with his experiences he will bring a ton of different knowledge to our program," said Rosser, who was associate head coach to David "Dickey" Nutt last season as the Rhinos went 18-10 in the school's first team since 1972. "With him having stops at several levels including the NBA I think Jimmy will be able to help educate our students on precise film work, skill development and attention to details. We're fortunate to have Coach Bradshaw be a part of our program"
A 2013 Roanoke, Va., College graduate with a 2015 Master's from Lehigh University, Bradshaw played three seasons of varsity basketball at Roanoke before starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Lehigh for two years. He later spent five years with the NBA Washington Wizards' organization and two years at Eastern Mennonite.
For the Wizards, he worked as a video scouting coordinator and a player development coach for four years and an assistant coach for Washington's G-League affiliate Capital City Go Go for one season.
"I'm really appreciative of the opportunity Coach Rosser has given me to join his staff at Gaston," Bradshaw said. "I'm excited to get to work and build off the strong season the Rhinos had last year."
A 2010 West Springfield, Va., High graduate, Bradshaw was a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic team in 2011 and 2012, won the ODAC Sportsmanship Award in 2012 and was a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honor Roll in 2011 and 2012.
