Sophomore Kaleb Siler (20 points, 15 rebounds), sophomore Jozohn Price (18 points, 6 rebounds), sophomore E.J. Joyner (12 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists), sophomore DeAngelo Canty (12 points), freshman Tin Tikvesa (9 points, 5 rebounds) and sophomore J.R. Watson (8 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals) led the balanced attack.
After the host Gators (7-4) scored the game's first five points, Gaston College scored the next 11 points and never trailed after taking an 8-5 lead with 15:26 left in the opening half.
The Rhinos were up by 10 by the 7:37 mark of the first half and increased the lead to 20 with 6:57 to play before taking the 25-point win.
"I really think it was a great team effort and we sustained it today," Gaston College coach Benny Moss said. "We did a really good job of focusing in and playing possession by possession and four-minute segment by four-minute segment."
The Rhinos close out first semester games this week as they visit the Pfeiffer junior varsity on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. and host Virginia Peninsula on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gastonia's Ashbrook High School.
"I like where we're headed," Moss said. "We've got good depth and quality depth. As we move forward, our guys are accepting their roles and playing unselfishly.
"We're moving in the right direction. But we've still got a long way to go."
