Gaston College dominates 2026 All-Region 10 softball team

Gaston College's regular-season champions dominated the 2026 All-Region 10 softball team.

The Rhinos had five first-team selections and three second-team selections, with freshman Aidan Ledbetter being named Region 10 Pitcher of the Year.

Pitchers Ledbetter and fellow freshman Sophia Crist were named first team pitchers, freshman Alexa Bianchi-Rossi first team catcher, sophomore Katelyn Brandon first team infielder and sophomore pitcher-infielder Savanna Mullins first team utility player.

On the second team were outfielders Mary Hinson and Adah Bruining and infielder Miranda Wall.

"Obviously, we're really excited for the kids who were selected," Gaston College coach Michael Steuerwald said. "Aidan's numbers spoke for themselves as pitcher of the year.
"It's really a cool thing to have the pitcher of the year three years out of four that we've been in the league. And it's the first time we've had two pitchers on the first team. It's also great to see how the freshmen have developed and grown throughout the season."

Ledbetter had a 19-1 record with two saves, a 0.97 ERA and 175 strikeouts in 130 1/3 innings in the regular season that included a 7-1 record with one save, a 0.82 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 51 innings in league play.

Steuerwald wasn't happy that Hinson, who has helped the Rhinos to a 45-1 Region 10 regular season record the last two seasons and hit .500 in 24 league game, wasn't a first team selection.

"It's a little disappointing for a player to be second in the league in average and have lost one conference game in two years, be on the second team," he said.

Other top Region 10 winners were Florence Darlington Tech's Madison Ragan (Coach of the Year) and USC Union's Ariana Evans (Player of the Year).
