Top moments of 2024-25: No. 8 - Keirieonna Wilson becomes school's first individual medalist

Keirieonna Wilson came to Gaston College's youthful cross country program as a classic "late bloomer" as she a mere all-conference runner at South Iredell High School as a senior.

For the Rhinos, she set records that will be hard to surpass.

The school's initial standout runner, Victoria Perez, was Gaston College's individual medalist in the school's first 10 meets from 2021 to 2022.

Wilson matched that feat - and then some - as she was medalist in all 12 meets in which she competed highlighted by the 2024 Region 10 individual title that was a first in school history.

Wilson and coach Kody Kubbs went into the 2024 season with the goal of accomplishing both feats.

"I'm happy we met those goals," Wilson said. "It's very satisfying."

Wilson departs Gaston College as a two-time All-Region 10 performer, a 2024 Region 10 champion and three-time NJCAA national championship participant highlighted by a 31st-place finish in the 2024 Half Marathon championship in Richmond, Va.
